We halved project duration AND 4x-ed output... by doing less
Watch the recording: Critical Cadence with Clarke, Ben, and Hugo
Hello my long-distance friend!
Hope you are doing well.
A huge THANK YOU to Ben Eagle and Hugo James for taking time to talk about the work we did at spexseating.com, implementing my Motorcade Method.
The video is below - but let me tell you why you should watch it.
First, an important confession & correction:
I previously said Ben and Hugo’s team cut their average project duration from 18 to 6 months.
It was actually 13 months down to 6 months.
Oops. Still amazing - just not quite as amazing as I promised 😲
But here’s the thing: the duration cut is interesting, but it’s a red herring.
What matters far more:
In the 2 years before we worked together: 1 major new product shipped per year
This year: on track for 4
(And they did it with fewer people on the product team.)
This cadence - the drip drip drip drip - is hugely important because they’re not just designing new products, they’re manufacturing them, then shipping them out around the world, where they have to be customised for their users.
The video walks through the changes they made, and the rationale behind them.
YOU SHOULD COPY THEM!

I’ll write more about CRITICAL CADENCE and THE MOTORCADE METHOD soon.

p.s. When I said “you should copy them”, one of the things they did was … hire me. Worth considering?
